Of all the things to change, to do to her after everything that's happened, this place makes her think she has parents again just to end it as abruptly as it began when the virus has run its course.


If River asks, don't tell her that it's a virus. She'll find out when it ends, and that will be difficult enough as it is. There isn't any threat from the Alliance where she is, and from what little I can see it looks as if they're doing a better job of taking care of her than our parents ever did so there shouldn't be any harm in letting her stay with them until this is all over.

She put the scalpels in order by gauge according to where they are in pi and all the syringes are in the cabinet under the sink. Apparently, they're quieter there.

I still haven't found where she moved my stethoscope.

I don't think I've ever been this glad to be back, outside of the incident on Jiangyin. Though it wasn't exactly my first experience with handcuffs, I hope it's the last where I'll be forced to share them with someone.

The last few days did have their bright side, though. Seeing that Saxon managed to turn himself into a cat was almost a comforting thought, all things considered. Maybe he should stay like that. From what I can tell, the most damage he can do at the moment involves his bladder and being more annoying than he is dangerous. If I didn't know he'd find a way to take it out on the infirmary, I'd suggest he stay that way.

He brought her back. I almost expected that he wouldn't, but, River is here now. She's safe.

Though he didn't do her any favors by depriving her of her medication for so long. Her behavior is as erratic as I've seen it in months, and I don't have the right antibiotics to treat her if she got sick while she was there.

Really, I forgot to thank you, Saxon, for taking her to a period in time that's probably swarming with virii and bacteria.

At the moment, he was just glad he'd gotten as far into the hospital as he did before River began the usual.

His sister? Making a scene? Never.

This was just a... moment. A very upset, slightly paranoid, highly noticeable, and kind of loud moment.

"Don't worry, mei mei. No one is going to hurt you here. We're just going to see a doctor and then go back to Serenity."

Nope. Still digging her heels in, terrified and small and very much not about to get into the wheelchair someone had provided once they saw her protruding pillow-belly.

Simon was pacing in the infirmary. Pacing, wringing his hands, running them through his hair, and then doing it all again.

Mutter, sigh, repeat.

His sister, however, was sitting calmly on the counter, cooing happily at the pillow-bump on her stomach and gently tapping those parrum-pum-pums on the lower cabinets with her heels.

"I'm going insane. That's the only other explination. This is all a delusion and I've gone completely insane."

Sometime today, Kaylee will find this (the red one) hanging from one of the hooks for her hammock in the engine room.

Then, he will realize that something is UP with River and promptly ignore her for the rest of the day, in favor of freaking the hell out all over about his sister.
